Delicate, palmate green leaves, with fern-like, sharply lobed leaflets that turn from green to yellow/orange, then a brilliant red fall color.

Round-headed, deciduous tree with deeply cut, 5-lobed, dark red-purple leaves, turning bright red in the fall, and red fruit.

Higasayama Japanese Maple

An unusual shaped palmate leaf with edges of pink, cream, with green veins and center, turning to cream with light green. Turning to red and yellow in the fall.

Horse Chestnut, Buckeye

Vigorous, spreading, rounded tree with 5- to 7-palmate, mid-green leaves consisting of obovate leaflets, 12” or more long. White flowers, with yellow, later pink marks, open in conical panicles, to 12” tall, followed by the well-known, spiny fruit, regionally known as “buckeyes”.

Tree of Heaven

Spreading tree with large, oblong-elliptic, pinnate, malodorous leaves, to 24” long, composed of up to 30 ovate to lance-shaped leaflets, which open reddish green and later turn mid-green. Bears terminal panicles, to 12” across, of small green flowers, followed by red-brown fruit.

Mimosa

A woody tree with fern-like compound leaves, made up of fronds of small, opposite, lanceolate oval leaflets that slightly overlap each other; Topped with clouds of pink and white - each small flowers is made up of many silky, thread-like petals fanned out, and clustered together in umbrels to give a delicate, pom-pom-like look.

Cut Leaf Alder

Very attractive, graceful, slender, deciduous small tree with unusual large filigree-like, mid-green foliage. Slow growing, hardy and suitable for all but dry soils, but will thrive in water logged positions.

Strawberry Tree

Spreading, picturesque, sometimes shrubby tree with rough, shredding, red-brown bark and oval to obovate, shallowly toothed, glossy, mid-green leaves, to 4” long. Small white flowers, sometimes pink tinged, open in pendent panicles, to 2” long in the fall; spherical, warty red fruit ripen the following fall.
